Richard LeRoy Lau
1942 - 2021
W. Brother LeRoy Lau, P.M., and longtime Secretary of Bigfork Lodge No. 150, laid down his
working tools and was called to the Celestial Lodge on October 21, 2021.
Brother Leroy was born on August 10, 1942 at Polson, Montana. After LeRoy graduated
from Polson High School, he joined the Navy. Brother LeRoy served aboard the USS Coontz
as a Fire Control Technician (Missiles) Second Class (FTM2) and was a Vietnam Veteran. In
addition, he was an active member of the USS Coontz Association. Following the Navy, LeRoy
began working for AT&T, beginning a 32-year career.
He received his Masonic Degrees with Friendship Lodge No. 185 in Denver, Colorado. He
was Initiated on March 3, 1977; Passed on April 7, 1977; and Raised to the sublime degree of
a Master Mason on May 6, 1977. In 2004, Bro. Lau affiliated with Bigfork Lodge No. 150, Big
Fork, Montana. Brother Lau served twice as Worshipful Master, served one term as Treasurer
of the Lodge and several terms as Lodge Secretary. Brother LeRoy was awarded Secretary of
the Year in 2015. He was also a member of the York Rite and Shrine. Brother Lau was a senior
DeMolay and was invested as with the DeMolay Legion of Honor (Active) in 1998.
Everyone who knew LeRoy was touched by his kindness and humor, and he was always the
first to lend a hand. He lived a life of selfless service and will be sorely missed by those whose
lives he touched.
