Th e 'Banners" identifi ed in the previous article were presented to the Lodges 21 years before Montana became
a State in 1889.
Th e three banners were used for many years by the Helena Lodges and were eventually retired to the Montana
Masonic Museum's care. Th e silk as a material was so old and had been exposed to many environmental factors
so that just touching parts of the 100 plus-year-old silk; the cloth would turn to dust. In 2006, some 138 years
aft er they were presented, the three banners were placed in a state of conservation. Th ey are on display at the
Montana Masonic Museum.
